Welcome to Vegausus

Welcome and happy 2020. Sure we are a little late but it’s that time of year we are all getting back into the swing of things. Getting back to work and prepping for back to school madness. Since this is my first blog I thought I would make it a bit of an intro into myself and the name I have chosen to work under. Along with the types of things that you can expect out of this page. This is usually the blog I skip past and go to the next one.

Who am I?

Well my name is Carolyn and I’m a vegan. Isn’t that how we all introduce ourselves? I currently have 8 rescue rats and fostering a greyhound. I’m married currently no kids. I enjoy writing and acting. But currently work an office job and a number of odd jobs to make ends meet. My family and friends are very important to me. I enjoy hanging with friends, playing board games, Dungeons and Dragons and I am level 34 Pokémon go trainer. I’m a massive Stargate fan. I enjoy sci fi and horror and am in the minority that did not hate how Game of Thrones ended. The current novel I am working on is a zombie novel. I have also written a number of short films and 1 act plays and was even lucky enough to win a few awards with them.

Why listen to me?

I’ve been vegan quite some time. Longer than some of today’s vegans have even been alive. I went vegetarian in 2000 and vegan somewhere around 2004-2005. So I have been 20 years without meat and I have tried all kinds of cosmetics and foods and diets and fads and whatever else is the hot new trend of the month. Also some people think I am an ok writer, some people even pay me to do their blogs so I guess I go ok. But that’s about it I don’t have any training in nutrition or anything like that just years of being around and watching the world of vegan options expand.

Why Vegausus?

I have always been intrigued by the story of Pegasus and perhaps the only person who holds onto the fact that Pegasus is his name and there are no Pegasi or Pegasuses or whatever plural you prefer. The story is full of horror and battles and bravery. I won’t go into the details but as well as that the sheer beauty of him is something that I love. A horse which is a noble animal and the majestic wings representing freedom and rising to new heights. There were already a few Vegasus companies so I added the u so it represented Aus which is where I live and the focus of the blogs. So it’s really more Veg- for Vegan (but pronounced Peg), Aus- for Australia, Us- For all of us.  Not super interesting but just so you know how it fits. So welcome to Vegausus.

What to expect.

Well I love food. So full disclosure I will talk a lot about food. I am not a healthy vegan. Like I am healthy but I eat all the processed stuff. Contrary to popular belief I do not live on rice and beans. Give me burgers and burritos. So I will review foods, restaurants and other vegan products. These are my personal opinion on these things and I am aware that everyone has different tastes. I don’t have time for haters so keep any nasty comments to yourself. I love creating in the kitchen so will share some of my recipes and when I get a better set up I may even share some videos with you. I also aim to blog weekly (no promises though because you know…life) I think I am funny so they should mostly be light hearted. The first few I have planned will cover different types of vegans, celebrity vegans, vegans in the media and vegan travel hotspots. Also open to suggestions from people if there are other topics you would like delved into a little more.
